Being Anglican

As Anglicans, we are part of a rich tradition that traces its roots back to the English Church, with expressions of faith found across the world as part of the global Anglican Communion. Here at Christ Church, we are proud to be part of the Anglican Diocese of Ontario within the Anglican Church of Canada.

What Does It Mean to Be Anglican?

Here are a few key aspects of our faith:

  • A Global Christian Tradition: Being Anglican connects us to a worldwide Christian family that bridges Catholicism and Protestantism.

  • Scripture, Sacraments, and Creeds: We hold the authority of Scripture, the sacraments, and the historic creeds at the heart of our faith.

  • Diversity in Unity: Anglicanism allows for a rich diversity of theological beliefs within a shared framework of common faith.

  • Tradition, Reason, and Scripture: We value tradition, reason, and Scripture as essential sources of authority in matters of faith.

  • Encouraging Dialogue: We encourage open dialogue and seek to find common ground among our diverse members.

  • Worship that Inspires: Anglican worship is deeply rooted in Scripture, sacrament, and the beauty of liturgy.

  • A “Big Tent” Faith: We are often described as “a big tent,” where differing theological views are welcomed while maintaining a shared commitment to prayer and worship practices.

At Christ Church, we embrace these values as we grow together in faith, celebrating the diversity that makes us stronger and more united in Christ.
