Anglican Church Women

The Annual Bazaar

The bazaar is one of the activities that the Anglican Church Women oversee, but it involves all members of the parish. The event usually falls on the last Saturday of November, but preparations are ongoing for much of the year with members working on crafts at the weekly Drop-In.

The ever-popular bake-sale table is also offered along with a book sale, Christmas table, and a white elephant table where one person's no longer needed items become another person's treasures. A lunch of homemade soup, tea biscuits, dessert, tea and coffee are also offered for a reasonable price.

The Bazar is not only a fundraiser for the church, but an opportunity for social interaction by all who participate. The anticipation, excitement, and comradery on the day of the bazaar is very evident!

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Prayer shawls are knitted or crocheted in prayer and when completed, blessed by our priest. Then, they are given to someone who may be suffering with stress, illness, grief, or loss and in need of comfort. Members supply the yarn for this project but donations of yarn are always welcome!

The shawls are available to anyone who requests one, whether they are a member of Christ Church Cataraqui or not. Family members, friends, neighbours; anyone who is in need of comfort is welcome to receive one of these shawls. There is absolutely no charge, ever. To obtain a shawl, contact Elizabeth Howard or any other member of the ACW. Donna Davidson (Parish Nurse), Michael Fenn (Music and Choir Director), and Canon Lynn (Rector) also have shawls available in the offices and ministry space and are able to give a shawl discretely or anonymously, without question, if that is your wish.
